Who doesn’t love a summer vacation to the beach?! It’s the perfect combination of excitement and relaxation. Hate the sand? Not a great swimmer? There are still tons of things to do to keep you entertained during a visit to the Emerald Coast.
Now here are 4 reasons why you’re doing it wrong if you only go to the beach during the busy season:
1. Less Traffic: A vacation should be about getting away from the hustle and bustle, which is why a trip to the beach during the off-season is that much better. You can go out to eat without enduring tourist traffic. There’s no waiting for your table while listening to Aunt Edna and Cousin Katie argue about what to eat for the eighth time in a row while you contemplate what you would be willing to eat if they would just. shut. up.
2. Cheaper Rates: Leave Aunt Edna and Cousin Katie behind this time. You don’t have to split the bill to make this vacation affordable! Loads of condominiums reduce their rates during the off-season, making a trip to the beach significantly more affordable. There’s something for nearly every budget- and it doesn’t stop there. Condos aren’t the only ones looking for your business now that school is in session. You can find special offers and reduced rates for shopping, eating out… just about anything. Bonus perk: the staff of any given business in a seasonal locale will be able to give you their undivided attention to treat you like the royalty that you are.
3. Think you’re missing out on that Florida Sunshine by coming during the off-season? Think again. Not only is the weather fabulous during the months of September and October on the Emerald Coast- the water is actually warmer. That’s right, you heard me, the Gulf of Mexico is warmer in September and October than it is during spring break season or early summer. PLUS the heat index is on the downhill slope, making midday outings that much easier. Double win.
4. Sure, these are all great reasons to go on vacation, but who wants to visit a ghost town?! No one. Alas, you’re in luck, because September & October isn’t “Autumn” or “Off-Season” … it’s Festival Season! You’ve got Seafood Festival, the Destin Fishing Rodeo, songwriter’s festival, BEER FESTIVAL, weekly concerts in 30-A & Sandestin and tons more events to take advantage of the perfect weather on The Emerald Coast this time of year. But hey, do what you want. I know where I’ll be…
