Personally, we could not think of a better place to spend your Spring Break 2023 than along Scenic Highway 30A. Families of all ages will enjoy relaxing in the sunshine, exploring the charming beach communities and dining at delicious local restaurants. As you plan your Emerald Coast vacation, here are some popular activities to include in your itinerary:
Have a Beach Day
Obviously, the sugar white sand and crystal clear water are the main reasons why you’re visiting the Emerald Coast. There are numerous public beach accesses along 30A, spanning from Dune Allen to Inlet Beach. Go for a swim in the Gulf, relax in your beach chair on the sand, or try an activity such as stand up paddle boarding (SUP) or sandcastle building. Whether you’re looking for relaxation or adventure, our beautiful Emerald Coast has it all!
Take a Bike Ride Along 30A
The best way to get around town is by bike, especially during busy seasons such as Spring Break. Visitors will enjoy cruising along the 19-mile paved pathway, known as the Timpoochee Trail, that parallels Scenic Highway 30A. It connects all the coastal communities, so you can easily discover restaurants, shops, beaches and other activities. Surrounded by beautiful homes and architecture, it’s also fun to take a leisurely bike ride through the picturesque neighborhoods. No need to pack your own set of wheels—there are numerous places to rent bikes, such as Coastal Cruisers, Bearded Beach Hippie, and 30A Electric Bike Company.
Visit Nearby State Parks
There are several Florida State Parks in the Santa Rosa Beach and 30A areas. With everything from gorgeous beaches and rare coastal dune lakes to hiking trails and fishing opportunities, vacationers who love the outdoors will especially love exploring the natural beauty of the Sunshine State. Enjoy a quick adventure or spend the entire afternoon at one of these pristine parks:
- Topsail Hill Preserve State Park
- Grayton Beach State Park
- Eden Gardens State Park
- Deer Lake State Park
- Camp Helen State Park
Go for a Hike
South Walton is home to many hiking trails that feature stunning scenery and unique wildlife. This outdoor activity is also dog-friendly, so it’s a great way to spend the afternoon if you plan on traveling with your pup! Point Washington State Forest offers more than 30 miles of trails, including 3.5-, 5- and 10-mile loops on mostly flat, sandy soil. Most of the State Parks mentioned above also boast beautiful hiking/biking trails.
Dine at Delicious Restaurants
Don’t forget to include restaurants in your Spring Break 2023 itinerary! From tasty brunch spots and casual eateries to rooftop bars and elegant steakhouses, there is a vast selection of dining options along 30A. Here are a few popular establishments:
- Vue on 30A offers elegant beachfront dining
- Bud & Alley’s is a waterfront restaurant and rooftop bar in Seaside that offers gorgeous sunset views
- Chiringo in Grayton Beach features a colorful, rustic-chic setting with outdoor seating and Gulf views
- Shunk Gulley Oyster Bar boasts coastal cuisine, live music and views of the sparkling emerald water
- Pecan Jacks is the perfect place for a sweet treat or refreshing ice cream cone after a day at the beach
Try Some Watersports
Some folks cannot imagine spending a Spring Break on the beach without being in the water as much as possible. Well, we have multiple options for our outdoor enthusiasts! The Gulf of Mexico and coastal dune lakes are the perfect places to go stand up paddle boarding or kayaking. You can also rent boogie boards, pontoon boats, and other outdoor equipment for a fun day in the sun.
Have a Beach Bonfire
What better way to end the perfect day than with a bonfire on the beach? Watch the sunset as you gather around the fire with loved ones, roast marshmallows for s’mores and wait for the stars to start twinkling. You can either get a permit and set one up yourself or have a rental company take care of everything for you. There are a few rules you need to know, so make sure to do your research beforehand.
Relax at Your Rental
Sometimes the most relaxing way to enjoy your 30A Spring Break is from the comfort of your vacation rental, especially if it’s located right on the sugar white sand. You can sleep in, cook a late morning brunch and head to the beach whenever you feel the urge. Some homes and condos also feature community pools, so you can go for a swim without leaving your neighborhood. After some fun in the sun, spend quality time with your loved ones by playing a card game, ordering takeout from your favorite 30A restaurant or watching the sunset from your balcony. You’ll make memories that will last a lifetime!
