1. Not buying something you like as soon as you see it. You think you’re going to circle back to that shop. You think you’ll see a cheaper, better version somewhere else. Most likely you won’t. When you see something you like, just buy it and live without regret.

2. Buying cheap flip-flops. You think, “I’m only going to wear them for a week, I might not even take them home, why buy the good ones?”The answer comes when you blow out a toe strap and shred the bottom of your foot a mile into a hike across the local Forrest Trail. And now you have to go back.

3. Not buying the travel insurance (full coverage). Travel insurance offers financial recovery for medical expenses that are incurred because of accidents and illnesses. Medical treatment is very costly, and those who sustain serious injuries may have to pay medical bills that amount to tens of thousands of dollars. With travel medical insurance, travelers can get reimbursement for the total amount of money that they spend on medical treatment. Another important benefit of travel insurance is that it provides protection against trip cancellation and interruption. When an emergency arises before or during a vacation, travelers may have to cancel or cut short their trips. Since they have already paid for their vacations, they will stand to lose a substantial amount of money. Travel insurance ensures that they will get compensation for losses that result from trip cancellation or interruption.

4. Buying Airbrushed T-Shirts.  I know these T-shirts look like a great idea…but please refrain yourself from buying one. Not only will all the locals laugh at you, but you’ll end up spending $40+ on a cheap t-shirt that will FADE after one wash. Instead of a tacky shirt that will be ruined after one wash, get a cute Destin/ Miramar Beach/ 30A/ Emerald Coast T-shirt. They are a lot cheaper, and will last longer. There is a wide variety of adorable shirts located in all the souvenir shops along Hwy 98.

5. Water, water, everywhere.  One thing that’s guaranteed to ruin a holiday is the camera getting ruined. All those holiday pictures, lost. Water damage is one thing, but salt water is another – so make sure you’re camera is waterproof or bring along some protective coverings. If in doubt, bring a disposable one for the day – nothing says beach holiday like some bright, candid film snaps.
